La Playita hostel
SINCE 2016Eco-Hostel en el CaribeLa Playita hostel
..an island spot just off the Caribbean coast of Colombia. It has an ocean front bar and spacious, modern rooms with a local feel to them perfect for Island life. Situated close to the port, but feels secluded. Coconut palms and trees shade the yard, and a garden out back provides us with tropical produce.
Guests can relax in hammocks, take a dip in the ocean out front, or simply take in the amazing panoramic sea view. Fishermen bring fresh caught seafood in daily right next to the bar, and the kitchen serves it up. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is served.
We have a variety of adventurous land- and water-activities like exploring the island by mountain bike, surf, stand-up paddling, snorkeling, diving and much more!

Isla Fuerte until recently has been one of Colombias best kept surfing secrets, but thanks to us and some keen Colombian die hards the wave is becoming increasingly more popular, so we have to be mindful of our impacts on the environment whilst maintaining a safe and fun surf culture. Punta ingles on the island north is home to one of Colombia’s only real barreling point breaks hence the name “Colpipe” Colombian pipeline. You don’t have to be Kelly slater or even a semi pro surfer but colopipe is a shallow reef break and depending on the day can be critical for beginners. If you are unsure in your ability to surf safely please ask about our 1on1 surf courses (subject to conditions and availability).
Because of the location and the dangers involved not only for us surfers but the super delicate reef itself there are a few things to consider.
Please check your sunscreen for harsh reef damaging chemicals such as oxybenzone and octinoxate they are toxic and do not belong in the water. We sell Head Hunter sunscreen and zink at the hostel that is strong and safe to use.
It is not necessary to wear reef booties so plz do not as it just encourages you to put your feet down and stomp over live corals that take years to grow back.
We have very little medical facilities on the island, for that reason we cannot rent boards or equipment unless u are accompanied by a boat and captian recommended by us the whole time your in the water with our gear.
It is prohibited to touch, take or kill corals, undersized fish or conch shells of any kind if you see someone doing so please kindly return the creatures to the ocean and remind the person we are simply visitors
The waves are a gift from the ocean to us, everyone deserves a fair go and it is more fun and
rewarding to share these experiences so please apart of the normal surf rules try to keep a friendly
good vibe in the water so everyone gets a chance to stoke out at Isla Fuerte and share epic waves
they probably didn’t know existed in Colombia!

‘Semana Santa’ is one of the busiest weeks of the year with literally hundreds of Colombians heading to the small island, with that in mind if its peace and quiet you’re looking for maybe its not the right time to visit 😉 the island transforms from a quite of the track relaxed vibe into a party person’s dream!
